How To Apply

I have an FWS award on my award letter. How do I become an FWS employee with Columbus State Community College?

    1. Download and complete all the necessary application material

    2. Search through open on and off-campus positions to build a short list of positions for which you are interested at.

    3. Bring an unexpired state issued photo ID and either a social security card or birth certificate, along with the completed application material, to the Federal Work Study Coordinator in Rhodes Hall 143.

    4.  Meet with the Coordinator to receive your referral form that you will use to interview for individual work study positions.  If you do not have work study on your award letter and are apply to the program, this is the point at which the Coordinator will evaluate your eligibility and either approve or deny your request.

    5. Contact the department supervisor listed on your referral form and set up an interview.

    6. Interview for the position with the department supervisor.  You must bring your referral form for this position.  Department supervisors will not consider you for the position without this form.

    7.   If hired, return your completed referral form to the FWS Coordinator. (A police check is required of all potential FWS students.  It is done in the office after you have been accepted for placement by the department or agency.)

    8.  Turn in all your completed paperwork to the Human Resources office and received your Cougar Career Card (the “Green Card”).  You are not eligible to begin working until you have this card.
